Compare servings of a similar size. If one recipe's serving is twice as big, the comparison isn't fair. No single number makes a recipe "healthier"; look at the whole picture.
How to use this calculator
- 1Name the two recipes at the top of each column.
- 2Enter the per-serving calories and nutrients for each one.
- 3The right-hand column shows how recipe B differs from recipe A.
Tip: Get each recipe's numbers from the Recipe Calorie Calculator first, using the same serving size.
How it's calculated
Difference = Recipe B - Recipe A; Pct Change = ((B - A) ÷ A) × 100
We do the math at full precision and only round the final answer, so the numbers you see are as close as kitchen measurements allow. The assumptions and limits are listed alongside.
Worked example
Scenario: Comparing standard whole-milk pancakes (320 kcal) with Greek yogurt high-protein pancakes (260 kcal).
InputsRecipe A: 320 kcal, 8g protein. Recipe B: 260 kcal, 18g protein.
CalculationCalories: -60 kcal (-18.8%); Protein: +10g (+125%)
ResultRecipe B has 60 fewer calories and +10g more protein per serving
Common questions
Why compare per serving rather than per batch?
Batch sizes often differ in yield. Comparing per serving reflects what an individual actually eats.
